Recipes

When I began this blog years ago, my main goal was to market my artwork.   Well.  This little blog has morphed!  I do love adding my art into the mix of whatever is on my heart that particular week and it's a lot of fun to create a post and make the painting fit the topic or make the topic fit the painting.  Always a challenge.

But......My sweet daughter Molly has some pretty intense stomach issues that started around Halloween of 2013.  She ate a ton of junk food, threw up and hasn't been the same since.  I'm sure the Halloween junk was just the straw that broke the camels back.  Her tummy was inflamed by goodness knows what for goodness knows how long and it finally said, 'ENOUGH!'    Our fabulous doctor took her off dairy and gluten to try to calm her tummy down.  We have since have gone through allergy tests and enough gluten/dairy free muffin recipes to make your head spin.  Then the next diagnoses came......corn.  When she has corn, she suffers.  So.....no corn.  Therefore we are now gluten/dairy/corn free.  Now, the gluten/dairy thing I had under control.  Corn?  Dude.....it's in everything.

Do you know what all these are? - Dextrin, maltodextrin, polydextrose, ferrous gluconate, maltitol, sorbitol, xylitol, xanthum gum, HFCS, etc., etc.??

I didn't either.  But they are either other names for processed corn or ingredients that are typically made from corn.  And what is one of the most genetically modified foods (GMO's) on the market.  Yeah, baby......corn.

We have since realized she is not gluten intolerant.......it's just that corn is in almost every processed product on the market, including store bought bread.  But, if she has homemade bread......no issues.  Sigh.......  So, we keep her gluten free for the most part, unless I know where the wheat is from or an item is made from scratch.   She's the healthiest person in my family now!!

Now.....I'm not on my soapbox.  I could say lot's but this post is not about my beef with the state of our American food.

When I create something that's quite tasty with only natural ingredients......I have this prideful habit of snapping a photo and posting it on facebook.  And, low and behold, folks started asking me for recipes.  It turns out that lot's of other people are dealing with their sweet children's dietary issues or even their own!  So......I decided to post our favorites as we create them.  Keep checking back and I'll keep adding more.  Here we go!
