Hey friends. As most of you know, I went to Mexico on a mission trip a couple of months ago and met just the most amazing children you'd ever want to meet. I did some work at an orphanage and fell in love with not only these sweet kids but the Mexican people as well. I wanted to do a Christmas project for the kids, like sending gifts and gently used clothing and toys down but my friend who works down there has told me that the kids actually do very well at Christmas due to support from a lot of different churches. But.....
She also told me that she has really gotten to know a lot of very needy special needs children in Reynosa. She helps run a school for deaf children and has met many other families whose children can't get the help they need due to the lack of programs for special needs children in Mexico. So she suggested doing a Christmas 'sponsership' for them. I would find as many sponsers as I can and she will match us with kids who need the most help. We will send down a shoebox (or more) full of as much as we can stuff it with, like toiletries, games, small toys, socks, candy and such. She will even send pictures of the kids and thier stories so we each know exactly who we are sponsering. I'm assuming we could even write letters to them.
I'm very excited about this and hope some of you will be, too.
So.....with all that being said.....any takers? Respond on this post or email me, darthkrissy@hotmail.com if you are interested. I think this is such a great thing. Being down in Reynosa for a week, I can't tell you the conditions most of these people live in. What a great thing we could do for these kids for Christmas. I think it would be something the kids and their families would not soon forget.
Join me!!
Thanks,
Krissy

What a kind heart you are! I would love to be involved in this project. I've so enjoyed hearing of your experiences. Hugs from a fellow runner (wish we could do it together...it would be non-stop talking I'm sure)
