A Good Day

I had such a fabulous day today.  I slept in until 7:30 (yes, when you have youngsters 7:30 is a late morning), got the house cleaned up for our 7 guests arriving tomorrow morning at 8:00 and officially passed the half-way point on my latest commissioned painting.  It's very detailed and anyone who knows me knows that detail is not my fave.
The painting is of my sister-in-laws favorite shops in Katonah, NY where she lives.  It's so strange painting it after only painting Davidson shops in the past.  It's quite the challenge since I'm not familiar with the Katonah shops.  I'm taking my time and enjoying it, though.  Finally.....I'm not rushing through a painting.  I'm trying to enjoy the process instead of pushing to get to the final product.
Here's where I am so far.  Halfway!

Hello, detail...my nemisis.

So back to my wonderful day.  Kevin got home from his usual out of town trip just in time for me hop into the car for a trip to homegoods.  It IS payday, after all!  I'm been DYING to get new lamps.  Sounds boring but look what I found.....
Score!  How cool is this lamp?

And then I also gave myself permission to buy this little table by Angela Statzer at Sanctuary.  LOVE it!

And then to make my day utterly wonderful (besides the fact that my kids got along today....woohoo!).  I went to the Bradford Farm to get coffee creamer (because theirs is the BEST) and what did I see?

Ripe Figs!!

And anyone else who knows me knows that I have been trying to grow figs for 5 years. A couple of ladies at church refer to me as 'the fig lady'. I have 4 fig trees and I have YET to get one fig.  Sigh......

Thanks for reading my little blog.  Good night and I hope your tomorrow is filled with fabulous outlet store finds, payday treats and juicy, perfect, ripe figgies.  And no, you cannot compare a fig to a fig newton.  Totally different.

Your commissioned painting looks FABULOUS so far :) can't wait to see what it looks like once it's finished. And you're definitely doing an awesome job with all that detail!
