The girls came downstairs this morning and sat right down in front of the painting. Lilly starting asking questions about who the man was and why he had red holes in his wrists. We had a nice little talk about it. Kevin and I talk to them about God and Jesus all the time but we've never talked about the crucifixion with them. It was sad, beautiful, difficult and wonderful to talk to my sweet 5 year old about it. She understands so much. I think this picture may go down as one my favorite of them.

It is truely breathtaking!!! I love the picture of your girls looking at it...lovely!!
ReplyDeleteSuch a sweet picture! So cool that you could use it for a little lesson and so close to Easter too. I guess you need to do the resurrection next, eh? Your painting turned out really beautiful. The colors are so warm and inviting and even though it is portraying a sad event (in the physical sense), we know that GRACE abounds.
ReplyDeleteWe had our cable guy here today and when he saw your painting...Peter's Blessing hanging over our desk, he commented on it and asked about the artist. Just thought you'd like to know that it's being admired by the most unlikely suspects...Have a great day, you lil' artist, you.
