Hmmmm....What to do next.

Do you ever have those days where you really, really want to paint something spectacular...something that even you, yourself, will look at and say, "Dern! I did that??". Yes, well that was me tonight. But, the crappy part was....I couldn't think of anything to paint, which means all I did was scratch my head and say...'dern'. So, what did I do? I painted a canvas and 3 wood blocks black to prime them and then I left my studio. Ho hum. (By the way....I'm not one of those artists who thinks my work is spectacular. I just really, really want it to be!!)

So, anyway...here I sit still trying to figure out what is next. Am I alone in this? Does anyone out there have a method, or a 'thing' you do when you are in 'creative blah'? I'd love to hear some of your ideas on getting the juices flowing!

Well, in the meantime....I finished this piece a couple of days ago and listed it tonight. it is Mary anointing Jesus with perfume. It was in my head for, well, forever so I had to put it on canvas (wood, actually). Hopefully it will do well. I am very pleased with the way it came out although I can't help but think it might be missing a little something. Hmmm....don't know.

That's it for tonight. Happy Friday, blogger friends!

  1. Krissy, I listen to old music. You know the stuff that reminds you of something or some one. That always helps me. Sometimes just a phrase gives me an idea for a painting or a piece of jewelry. Good Luck. I love your last piece.

  2. Fantastic, I really like your last piece.
When I want to paint and I don't know what to paint I hear music and close my eyes trying to see what I am going to paint.

  4. Krissy, This painting is fantastic! I love it! I have been in a creative slump myself and I have found that getting out of my normal routine/space can motivate some creative energy. If you figure out an easier approach, let me know.
    Congrats on your move!
