Down to the River!

Took me 6 weeks to finish this one. I'm not used to painting small details so it absolutely exhausted me to do it. My poor little eyes would go blurry after about an hour and I'd have to give it up for the day. BUT.....I've wanted to do this painting for a while. Reminds me of my old Kentucky home. Simpler times and a simpler life.

Which reminds me....I'm doing a charity event for a mission called Red Bird Ministry which benefits the coal mining region (where I'm from) of Southeastern Kentucky. The area is filled with mind numbing poverty and every sadness you can think of. But the people carry on and are the nicest you will ever meet. Check out http://www.rbmission.org/ to learn more about this amazing ministry.

"Down to the River" is available in my gallery, Sanctuary of Davidson. Please visit or contact me for more information.

Have a great week!

Forgot this one!

For so long I've meant to post these sweet angel paintings I did for Molly's teachers last year. We just loved them and seeing one of them today made me want to dig these up and publish. We had such a great experience last year with these 2 wonderful ladies and even all the kids got along beautifully. So I painted these angels and had all the kids sign around the frame. Then we mothers signed the back. It was the most personal thing I could think to give to such sweet ladies. God bless teachers!!
