Hello, Summer!

It's so stinkin' hot here! It's nearly 90 degrees outside already. I love living in NC but the only bad thing is that there is little to no spring. One day, 58 degrees then it's 90. Sigh....

But...on an up note....My sweet Lilly got chosen in a lottery to go to a school that is just perfect for her. There were about 450 children with only 38 spots available. The amazing thing is that her name was drawn from a hat. That's right. The school is a charter (public) which means every child has an equal chance to get in. Names go into a hat and then 38 are drawn out. Kevin and I have been praying for her to get in for months. Not just because it's a fantastic school, but because Lilly is an 'out of the box' child and this is an 'out of the box' school. Her name being drawn was nothing short of a miraculous answer to prayer and I'll stick by that belief til the day I die!! Oh, and that also means that Molly automatically gets in in 2 years. Yippy skippy!
Anyhoo.....here a few newbies. I listed a couple on etsy and will list more later. The mermaid is in the gallery (my show was very fun, by the way....thanks for all the well-wishes!) but I may trade it out soon and list it as well.

Just a quickie tonight. I haven't posted in over a week since I took a little break after my show. I worked on a new piece tonight for about 2 hours and only got it sketched in over the gesso. I am so bad at drawing. I think I mask it with lot's of paint. But....my hubby has been asking me to do a 'prodigal son' painting so I decided to tackle it. Hopefully I'll have some 'progress pictures' to share in a couple of days.

Until then...here's a cute little dress I painted a couple of weeks ago. It turned out very princessy, which wasn't the plan but I like it! I've also just added a new painting on etsy and updated a little so pop over and tell me what you think.
Oh, and I, of course, had to add in a pix of my adorable kids....just for good measure!

Good night...sleep tight!

Woohoo! The gallery I'm featured in is having a little opening for me next Sat. the 11th. How exciting! I'm posting a pix of the girls in front of the storefront. I wish you all could be there and see all the other amazing artists in there. And, of course, so you could all have a glass of wine with me!
I didn't get a photo of the mermaid I promised but here are few that I just had professionally done. I'm so excited! I still have all these originals (some in the gallery) but now I will have prints of them as well. She did this style for me and also a 'print style'. She did such a beautiful job. Woohoo!
