Finished last night. I can't help but be proud. I've never done anything this big before...ever!

The girls came downstairs this morning and sat right down in front of the painting. Lilly starting asking questions about who the man was and why he had red holes in his wrists. We had a nice little talk about it. Kevin and I talk to them about God and Jesus all the time but we've never talked about the crucifixion with them. It was sad, beautiful, difficult and wonderful to talk to my sweet 5 year old about it. She understands so much. I think this picture may go down as one my favorite of them.

Hey all. Here are a few pix of a piece ( a very large piece) I am doing for my church. We are doing the stations of the cross for the lenten season and different artists are doing artwork for the different stations. I chose 'Jesus Dies'. I've always wanted to do a crucifixion painting but was always too nervous. This gave me a great excuse. It's quite the challenge and such an undertaking makes me very nervous but honored as well. I'm looking forward to how it is going to turn out.

This piece is not even half finished. It's 4 feet by 4 feet. My biggest yet.

You can see the third angel behind Jesus penciled in.

Thanks for looking! I'll update as soon as I'm finished. I'm also taking Jane and Maureens texture class. Woohoo! I added a link to it so everyone can check it out. I can't wait to try out the great techniques.
Cheers!

Thanks to all my sweet happy birthday wishers. It really was a wonderful day and I'm not so sad about turning 35 anymore. I'm still young and kickin' and that's all that matters!
Here's a few I'll be posting in Etsy. I wasn't sure how the chandelier would turn out but I'm quite happy with it.

Have a great weekend everyone!

New things....

I'm trying to make myself try something new with each painting. It's really fun but I can't help but think that I'm going to absolutely ruin each piece. Most of the time, I really have no idea what I'm doing. I think lots of artists have a picture in thier head of what they want their painting to look like. Every now and then I get that picture, but more often than not, I just plow forward and whatever happens, happens. I must say, there have been some disasters. Some of my paintings have 2 or 3 other paintings underneath!

So here are a couple of experiments. They are in the gallery now. Oh, and I must mention that I signed on with an agent who will be taking my work around to other galleries. Very exciting. I hope it works out. I haven't been listing on ebay at all since the fees are absolutely through the roof. I'll just be on etsy from now on. Etsy has a special place in my heart, anyway.

Oh, and by the way....I'll be 35 on Friday and I am feeling the pain. Mid 30's. 5 Years til 40. Where did the time go? Oh, well. The 30's have been good to me and quite frankly, I feel like I'm 25 except for the occasional aches and pains And, I had both my girls within the last 5 years and I am totally obsessed with them. Life is good. 35......sigh. The future is bright....right?

Have a great week everybody!
