I've Been Tagged

Ahhh....finally some time to myself. My 2 and 4 year olds are happily napping and usually I'm so pooped I nap with them. But not today! I'm sitting on the couch with a cup of chai, a pottery barn catalog and a box of girl scout cookies. Speaking of scouts....has anyone tried thier new cookies with the fudge on the bottom? Delish! And...(so proud of myself) I finished a new painting last night that I'll post later. It's an Irish angel with a blessing handwritten on her dress. I usually think my paintings are 'okay' but this one I really like. My husband made me promise we would keep it (he's seriously Irish!) but I may sneak it up on ebay anyway with a reserve.
Well, this is lot's of fun. I've been tagged by Lillian from her Anna's Dreams blog. What the heck do I say about myself? I never considered myself very interesting...that's my hubbies department. He's a former professional football player who also played in the World League in Germany. He has lot's of interesting tidbits about him.....me? Not many!! But, here goes.

Okay....
1. I'm a freak about hair in the bathtub. This is because I grew up with little money in KY and we all shared the same bathwater. I was the youngest in a family of very hairy people so of course I got the last bath. Use your imagination....
2. I have very dark, almost black hair and eyes yet both my sweet girls have light blonde hair and light blue eyes. Go figure!
3. I get made fun of for my lazy speaking constantly. For instance, I say 'birfday' instead of 'birthday'.
4. When I was 28 I got a big ole' tattoo on my back and my father wouldn't speak to me for a week!
5. I have an uncle named 'Buford' and another who plays the washtub in a band.

Pretty random, huh?

Okay, I guess the rules are I have to tag 6 random people and link my site to theirs. So, I tag....
1. Tascha http://timewithtascha.blogspot.com/
2. Suz http://surprisedelightjoy.blogspot.com/
3. Diane http://www.dudadaze.blogspot.com/
4. Eric http://ericorchard.blogspot.com/
5. Deborah http://lifewithoutnovacaine.blogspot.com/
6. Lisa http://lisahurwitzart.typepad.com/

These artists are among my faves. Enjoy!

Okay...just added my girl. I like her so much I started an Irish Angel series and even finished another one with my kids running around me! Pretty proud of myself....usually I'm a slacker!

This picture stinks but I will have her up on etsy soon. Cheers!

Obsessed!

Wow, what a slack blogger I've been. But, here we go....new offering from Krissy's Art. My big, blonde, matronly mermaid! At first I wasn't sure about her but she's really grown on me these last couple of days. Her 'tail' is collage papers (which I'm beginning to fall in love with) and she is sealed forever in wax (which I am totally obsessed with). That's a whole other story.....I just can't stop pouring wax on things! I love that dreamy look it creates and it really gives such a soft, feminine glow to my mermaids and angels. I'm hooked! I also found these really awesome little metal plates with inspirational words on them. I nailed one that reads, 'Serenity' to my mer-matons crown.

On another note....I'm sick yet again. Kevin got home late tonight and I was so looking forward to soaking in a hot tub and having a little 'sick-me' time. Of course, my 4 year old sat right at my tub-side and held a book open for me so I could read it to her without getting it wet. So much for 'sick-me' time!

Anyhooo......that's it for tonight. Ciao!

Finally!!

Ahh....I finally had time to do a new painting. This lovely lady will be up for bids tonight on ebay. I'll probably do a 5 day instead of 7 since I've been so 'slack' lately. She's my first black haired lady. I have no idea what to name her. Anyone have a suggestion? I'm wide open!

CALLING ALL PRINCESSES!

I'm doing this awesome study my friend is leading and talked me into. It's a book called, CAPTIVATING, by Staci Eldridge. It's fantastically inspiring but also opens doors I thought I closed, locked and threw away the key to a long time ago. One of the many things it talks about is what the media (or maybe it's just my sister) calls, "The Princess Culture". The scoff is that we are making our children obsessed with being princesses and being beautiful and such. That we are damaging our little girls in the process. Here's Staci's take......We want to be a princess because God put it into our souls that we ARE princesses.....HIS princesses....so why wouldn't we be fascinated with beauty? We want to be 'lovely' because we were meant to be all along. And I'm not talking about media, worldly, physical beauty. There is an indescrible beauty to any woman, I don't care what she looks like, it doesn't matter. Unfortunately, many of us have had our beauty squooshed by people who simply can't or won't see what's really there. But we are drawn to beauty......nature, music, art, kindness, gentleness, humility.....these are all beautiful things, a 'soulish' beauty, as Staci calls it. I say....Rock on Staci!

So.....are we princesses? Yea, Baby! Should we hide it or be ashamed? No way. Should we forego beauty for practicality? Heck no!

So go ahead and wear your tiara and tutu today....all day. The creator of the entire universe calls you his princess. Who are we to argue that?

"Arise my darling, my beautiful one, and come with me." Song of Solomon 2:10.

Reversible art!

Yes, it sounds crazy but I was laying in bed the other night and had this idea.....what if I painted a painting on either side of a small chunky wooden block so people could have it on thier desk (or nightstand, or kitchen counter....you get the idea) so you could have two paintings in one? Hmmmm..... so I headed on down to Lowes and had them cut my wood. "You're kidding, right?" was the response I got from the high school kid doing the cutting. "Sorry, dude", was my reply. And here is the first, "Reversible Desk Art"! We'll see how it goes!

AAAAHHHHH! I have been sick for 2 weeks now! Luckilly my 2 sweet girls and hubby have remained healthy. How does that happen? Oh well. Better me than them!

So....on etsy I've launched a line of checkbook covers. Will be adding a few everyday so check it out! Cute, cheap art! I love pulling mine out of my purse to pay for something and seeing cute little angel in my hands. Makes me smile.
